Since biblical time, almonds were grown throughout Israel and were a part of its economy. The Hebrew word for almond – "Shaked" is the same word for 'diligent' – the tree that is first to bloom but the last to ripen, the tree which symbolize agility and persistence.

The best Israeli almonds are grown in its northern valleys, spanning from Wadi Ara in the west onto Beit-Shan Valley in the east This area, called Jezreel  Valley, is where Israel's best variety of almonds are grown and where our company is located.

Our farmers grow and produce some 1000 tons of almonds annually. The main varieties are "Umm al-Fahm" (also known as 'Hassan') and "Kokhva". Most of the crop is sold within Israel to consumers who prefer the local almonds over imported almonds from California.

The difference between Israeli almond and the

typical Californian almond (NPX):

Size: Israeli almonds are 50% bigger than the Californian biggest almonds and so throughout the Middle East is known as 'Premium' almond.

Use: The Israeli varieties are more suitable for roasting and are preferred by roasters worldwide.

Health: The Israeli almond contains significantly bigger amounts of antioxidants (mainly Polyphenols and Tocopherols) that give the almond not only abundance of health benefits but also a longer shelf life.
